Located in beautiful
North Buffalo, NY is an incredible little shop - Terrapin Station.
Featuring the spirit of the Grateful Dead,
Terrapin Station was established in a small storefront in March
1988. Their expanded location at 1172 Hertel near Delawareoffers
a heightened experience that has attracted customers from all
over the world.
Terrapin Station had always served
as a cultural and social focal point for local Deadheads and
music lovers. For twenty years, this locally-owned store has
grown to embrace the alternative side of all ages.
Great music sets the kind mood.
Visitors can browse through an extensive music CD collection
and choose from eclectic clothing. The fragrance of beautiful
incense and oils heightens the sensation of stepping into Haight-Asbury
circa 1960's. Terrapin's selection of home decor and silver
jewelry is imported from around the world. From tie-dye baby
clothes to summer dresses to 3X music tee shirts, this boutique
is like no other.
"Who shops here?" asked one staff
member smiling. "You'd be surprised. We've got interior decorators
and college-age folks buying our mix of decor & gifts while
soccer moms order four dozen tie-dyes for the school team. And
it just gets more unpredictable from there."
Terrapin Station
celebrated twenty years of being the center of western New York's
Grateful Dead/jam band community with a public celebration on
March 1, 2008.
It was a wonderful evening of excellent music, friendship
and dance with many featured musicians including Sonic Garden
and Acoustic Forum.
Terrapin's proud history includes co-sponsorship
of concerts and quiet support of local schools and charitable
events including the Lizzard Ball, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation
and RAINN Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network. As Terrapin's
slogan says...
stop in and say hi!
